❓What’s the Issue?
You may see this error in LaunchBox logs or as a crash message:
SQLite Error 11: 'database disk image is malformed'This indicates that LaunchBox’s local metadata database (Games.db) has become corrupted. It may occur when:
Your PC is shut down unexpectedly
A sync tool (e.g. OneDrive, Dropbox) interferes with the database
A disk or write error occurs during usage
✅ How to Fix It
Option 1: Force Update the Metadata
This will rebuild the Games.db without needing to delete anything.
Open LaunchBox
Go to Tools > Download > Force Update Games Database Metadata
Wait for the update process to complete
Restart LaunchBox
This resolves the issue for most users.
Option 2: Manually Reset the Database
If the error persists:
Close LaunchBox
Navigate to your LaunchBox\Data folder
Back up and delete the file named Games.db
Reopen LaunchBox — this will regenerate a fresh database
Run Tools > Download > Force Update Games Database Metadata again to repopulate your metadata
💡 Your games, playlists, and media are not stored in this file, so deleting it is safe — but it’s always a good idea to back it up first.
🛠️ Additional Tips
If you’re using sync software like OneDrive, try excluding your LaunchBox folder or pausing syncing during usage.
Make sure LaunchBox is closed properly before shutting down your PC.
